Duke and Delta

Duke and Delta are a mare and foal combo who came to us as their owners were unable to meet their needs. Duke was our second surprise mid-winter foal for 2024 and despite a bit of a shaky start, he has grown into a strapping young lad. 

Duke is a fun loving, cheeky boy who gets himself a little over-excited at times. He can be a bit nippy like many young horses, but is getting great handling and care from our more experienced volunteers at Rescue HQ and he is coming along in leaps and bounds. He is learning to lead, can have all his feet picked up and is great for the farrier even when he's just standing out in the paddock! Duke is due for gelding, but we are waiting for his second testicle to make an appearance before that can happen. 

Delta is a sweetheart and despite being a bit of a stress-pot at times she is a great mum. She loves Duke, but has been known to take him for adventures in the middle of the night - giving our team a heart attack when going to check them in the morning and she's moved them into a new paddock! 

Once Duke is gelded, we will slowly and steadily wean him from Delta and get them ready for foster homes. Once they are have both received all the training and care they need, they'll then be ready for their forever homes.
